A Family Company That Clears Land in Roebuck and the Upstate in Roebuck, SC

Michael and Marshall own the company together and both of them work. That is the whole company. When you hire Eastern Land Solutions, those are the people who come out.

Twenty-five years of moving trees off of property

Michael Manning has spent about twenty-five years running heavy equipment and taking trees off of job sites in Upstate South Carolina. Most of that was tree work for commercial customers — colleges, golf courses, property managers — the kind of accounts where you show up, do the job right and get called back for the next one. Not much of it involved advertising. The phone rang because people knew him.

Over the years the work kept going past the trees. A customer would need the stumps out. Then the ground leveled where the stumps had been. Then the brush hauled off and the lot ready for something to be built on it. Eastern Land Solutions exists because that is where the job usually ends, and because Michael and his son Marshall wanted a company built around that part of the work instead of treating it as an afterthought.

Who actually shows up

There are four of us. Michael and Marshall own the company together and both of them work. The other two men on the crew have been with Michael a long time — one for more than over 25 years, long enough that Michael was at his wedding, and the other for somewhere between ten and twelve. That is the whole company. When you hire Eastern Land Solutions, those are the people who come out.

It is worth saying plainly because a lot of outfits in this business subcontract the work out and you never meet the same crew twice. We are small on purpose right now. Michael still runs the tree service, and we would rather take on the work we can do properly than book more than we can get to.

What we run

The equipment came over with us. Excavators with a grapple for pulling and stacking material, two high-capacity chippers that let us process brush on site instead of hauling every stick of it away, and dump trucks for the material that does have to leave. On bigger clearing jobs, where the volume is more than chippers can handle, we bring in a tub grinder and grind the debris down on the property.

That mix matters for what a job costs and how long it takes. Being able to chip and grind on site means less trucking, and less trucking usually means a smaller number at the bottom of the estimate.

How we quote and how we work

Estimates are free. We look at the property, we tell you what we think it takes, and we tell you if we think it is more than we ought to take on. Michael’s honest answer on his own experience is a good example of how the company talks: twenty-five years of running machines and clearing trees off of sites is real, and calling that twenty-five years of grading contracts would not be, so we do not say it.

We work Monday through Friday, seven in the morning to five thirty in the evening. We do not typically work weekends. If you call while somebody is on a machine and nobody picks up, leave a message — you will get a text back.

The area we stay in

We work out of Roebuck and cover a good part of the Upstate from there — Spartanburg and Laurens counties, a good portion of Greenville County, and up into the northern edge of Anderson County. Easley is about as far west as we go and Gaffney is about as far northeast. We do not cross into North Carolina, because hauling equipment over the state line means a DOT inspection and that time comes out of your job, not ours.
